The original Monoi comes from Parfumerie Tiki, founded in 1942. Its home on Tahiti is in a suburb of the French Polynesian capital Papeete. Monoi Tiki Tahiti Tiaré is handcrafted there according to traditional Polynesian recipes through gentle maceration of Tiaré Tahiti flowers (botanically: Gardenia taitensis) in fresh coconut oil. In this extraction process, the flower releases its fragrance and special properties, which make it so valuable for skin and hair care, permanently into the oil.

Monoi, which means "fragrant oil" in the Polynesian language, has been used throughout the islands of Polynesia as a beauty product for body care since ancient times. This exotically scented, nourishing coconut oil has a wide range of applications from skin, hair, or massage oil to after-sun care or bath oil with authentic South Seas feeling.

Monoi Tiki Tahiti is the only Monoi to carry the quality label 'Monoi de Tahiti, appelation d'origine'.
