Passionflower herb is traditionally used for relaxing teas. It has a mildly herbaceous aroma and is particularly popular in the evening.
Details
The passionflower was brought to Europe in the 17th century as an ornamental plant. Its healing properties were not recognized until the 20th century.
Application
For a tea, pour one to two teaspoons of passionflower herb with boiling water and let it steep for about 10 minutes. Combined with similarly acting plants such as valerian root or hops, you can create your own delicious evening tea blend.
If you drink passionflower tea daily, take a break after about six weeks. During the following six weeks, you can drink tea made from a similarly acting herb instead. This measure, which should be applied to all potent medicinal herbs, helps prevent habituation. Additionally, the break prevents unwanted long-term effects.
