The natural wax paper has a wafer-thin carnauba wax coating, so that even moist foods such as smoked fish, cooked ham, goat cheese, etc. can be packaged and stored safely in a completely natural material.
Conventional wax paper, such as that used as wrapping paper in butcher shops, fishmongers, or cheese counters, usually has a wax coating made from paraffin. However, paraffin is a petroleum product, and petroleum products contradict our commitment to sustainability. For this reason, COMPOSTELLA natural wax paper is made exclusively from renewable raw materials and is therefore fully compostable.
Carnauba wax is a pure food wax and is completely harmless to health and vegan.

Please note: Do not use COMPOSTELLA natural wax paper as baking paper , as the coating melts at higher temperatures and can contaminate the baking tray. We recommend our 1 for 4 paper as baking paper.

COMPOSTELLA natural wax paper with carnauba natural wax coating is completely natural, compostable without residue, usable on both sides, made from renewable raw materials, breathable, free from chemicals, taste and aroma neutral, food safe, greaseproof, water-repellent, free from silicone, paraffin, and petroleum, a German quality product.
100% unbleached cellulose from European thinning wood, FSC and PEFC certified.

Wax coating

The wax used to coat the natural paper comes from the leaves of the carnauba palm. The palm grows wild in northern Brazil, meaning it's not grown on plantations. The leaves are cut, the wax is scraped off, and the leaves grow back. Yeah!

Carnauba wax is a pure food-grade wax and completely safe for health. It contains no fragrances, which is also important for allergy sufferers. Carnauba wax is the hardest known natural wax. It has a melting point of 80–87°C, so it remains stable even in warm rooms and when exposed to sunlight.

Compostability

COMPOSTELLA natural wax paper is made exclusively from renewable raw materials and is therefore fully compostable within a short time. Depending on the composting conditions, the decomposition time averages 21 to 28 days.
