The Kubeben pepper, also known as tail or stem pepper, originates from Indonesia and has a pleasantly sweet aroma reminiscent of eucalyptus.
Its taste is fruity and peppery-bitter, with a lingering fruity, slightly tingling aftertaste. Kubeben pepper can be used whole or ground in a pepper mill.
It pairs well with lamb and beef stews as well as vegetable dishes, for example, those made with pumpkin, carrots, eggplant, or zucchini. It also tastes wonderful in sauerkraut as a substitute for the usual juniper berries.
