Field horsetail is commonly known as scouring rush and has been used for tea infusions for more than 2,000 years.
Field horsetail is particularly noteworthy for its relatively high silica content, as it is considered the natural source with the highest silica concentration. It typically contains 5 to 8% silica.
Silica is one of the key nutrients for nails, skin and hair as well as lungs, bronchi and bones. Its diuretic properties also make field horsetail a fascinating plant. Additionally, field horsetail is used as a compress to strengthen the skin's natural regenerative capabilities.
Preparation
Pour 150 ml of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of the herb. Let steep for 20 minutes. Then strain the tea through a sieve. Drink 1 cup 2 to 4 times daily between meals.
