Effect of herbal steam bath cleansing
Hormonal fluctuations are also noticeable in the skin and mucous membranes. The female genital area is more susceptible to dryness, skin irritation and fungal infections.
Origin of Yoni Steaming
The word yoni comes from Sanskrit and means vulva. However, steaming the vulva and vagina with herbal decoctions is a method practised not only in Asia, but also in many Central American and African cultures to strengthen the vagina and keep it healthy.
Note: Pregnant women, especially women who are trying to give birth prematurely, should not take yoni steam baths.
Application of the yoni steam bath
Pour 25g of the herbal mixture into a small pot of boiling water and leave the pot on the hot hob for a few minutes with the lid on.
If you have a steaming box, place the pot with the herbal mixture in the box and sit on the opening.
Alternatively, place the pot at the bottom of the toilet. Sit on it and, if necessary, wrap a towel around your hips to prevent the steam from escaping.
The duration depends on how you feel and is between 5 and 15 minutes.
Important: Make absolutely sure that there is enough distance between you and the hot steam! If the steam is uncomfortably hot, simply wait a little until the herbal decoction has cooled down.
