Caring for wool socks properly
Proper care is crucial for the durability of your wool socks.
MACHINE LAUNDRY
Wool has a self-cleaning function and it is sufficient to first air it . Wool socks can
Wear them, ventilate and wear them again without hesitation, with a day off in between, for 3 to 4 days before they have to be washed.
Wash the wool socks cold in the wool washing program, this is gentler. The wool felts at 30 degrees. Turn the socks inside out before washing, this is gentle on the outside of the fibers. The spin speed in the wool wash cycle should be a maximum of 400 rpm .The detergent is of course important for washing processes, but too much detergent is used overall. We recommend a liquid detergent for wool - 2 tablespoons are sufficient for one machine . In principle, do not use fabric softener, otherwise the wool can quickly lose its elasticity and the socks wear out.
HAND WASH
A gentle hand wash is also recommended for light soiling. use
lukewarm water, gently move the wool socks back and forth in the detergent solution, not too much
press, rub or wring, otherwise the fibers can become matted and shrink. Please do not leave it in the detergent solution, as long soaking will damage the fibers. Then rinse the socks several times with clear, cold water. Then carefully press the water out of the woolen socks (do not wring too hard).
DRY
Lay the wool socks flat on a towel to dry them gently or wrap them carefully in a terry towel. Do not hang the socks on the heater to dry as the heat can shrink and make the socks brittle.
Good, high-quality, fine textiles and tumble dryers do not go together and natural wool becomes matted in the tumble dryer. Unlike your classic underwear and home textiles, please never dry the HIRSCH ORGANIC wool socks in the tumble dryer .
STORE
Keep your socks dry, protected from light and mothproof. Small blocks of cedar wood
are a good solution against moths. -
