5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is an amino acid that is formed by the body from the amino acid L-tryptophan. L-tryptophan occurs naturally in various types of bananas, chocolate and in the seeds of the African black bean (Griffonia simplicifolia). Griffonia simplicifolia is a woody climbing shrub that is native to West Africa and Central Africa. The plant grows to around 3 metres tall and bears greenish flowers, followed by black pods containing the valuable Griffonia seeds. Griffonia is considered an aphrodisiac in its native country. In Europe, however, the plant is primarily known for its high natural 5-HTP content.

5-HTP is converted into serotonin in the body. Serotonin is one of the key transmitters in the brain, which plays a central role in controlling the sensation of pain, the sleep and waking rhythms and the state of mind.

The 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) for our organic 5-HTP Griffonia tablets is extracted from the seeds of the African black bean (Griffonia Simplicifolia). In cooperation with our African supplier and a German pharmaceutical company, we are the first company in the world to have succeeded in producing a Griffonia extract that fulfils the high requirements of the EC Organic Regulation.

The raw materials used for our products come exclusively from controlled organic cultivation. The Griffonia seeds are grown in the African jungle according to organic guidelines. The products are also gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan and cruelty-free. The valuable ingredients are optimally protected by the high-quality amber glass packaging.

Recommended dosage

Take 1 50 mg tablet 2 x daily with sufficient liquid.
