Yarrow was already mentioned in the classical readings of Pliny, Hippocrates and Dioscurides. - even the warrior Achilles is said to have known and used it, the botanical name Achillea millefolium is derived from Achilles, who in Homer's epic is said to have treated the fresh war wounds of a comrade in arms before Troy with yarrow. The species name millefolium (=milfoil) refers to the finely divided leaf blade.
preparation
To make a cup of tea, pour approx. 150 ml of hot water over 2 teaspoons (2-4 g) of yarrow herb and let it steep covered for 10 minutes, then strain.
