Asparagus racemosus is a creeper plant native to India in the asparagus family. These develop an elaborate root system with bulbous roots. These root bulbs are dried and processed in order to be used in Ayurveda medicine - as has been the case for generations - as a "Shatavari" medicinal plant.
The root tastes sweet and bitter, cools Pitta and decreases Vata. It has nourishing properties and increases Kapha.
