Buckwheat has a pleasantly strong, nutty flavour and is a pseudo-cereal. Pseudo, because despite its name it is not a cereal at all, but a knotweed plant. It is the ideal alternative to conventional cereals. Buckwheat's lush flowering splendour serves as a food source for bees. Buckwheat is particularly versatile in the kitchen.
Use
Ideal as a side dish and risotto, for casseroles or as a breakfast porridge. Buckwheat can be added to bread cereals in pre-swollen form (up to 30%). When ground into flour, it can also be used for baking and for delicious crêpes.
