The main active components in marigold are found in the flower.

The most important components of marigold blossoms are their flavonoids and saponins. These have a wide range of beneficial effects. Harvested in full bloom and carefully dried, they contain up to 0.9% flavonoids and various saponins; smaller amounts include triterpenes, coumarins, carotenoids, polysaccharides, bitter compounds, and phenolic acids.

Marigold flowers are primarily known as tea; however, the dried yellow blossoms make wonderful edible decorative flowers for salads and desserts.

You can also use the marigold blossoms for your own natural cosmetics , for example as a bath additive.

Preparation as tea

Pour lukewarm water over 2 teaspoons (2-4 g) of the cut flowers and let stand for a few minutes.
