Our Spiced Gujarat Dal combines red masoor lentils with aromatic mustard seeds, fenugreek, coriander, and a hint of cane sugar. This finely balanced blend of spices brings warmth and lightness to your kitchen. Ideal for stressful days—or when you want to treat your body to something gentle.
preparation
For each serving, toast 1/2 cup (60 g) of dal in ghee, add 120 ml water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes. Sauté the onions in the ghee, stir in the mixture, and season with salt.
Tip: Refine with fresh coriander or a little lime.
Recipe tip: Spiced Gujarat Dal with onion and garlic topping
Ingredients (4-5 servings)
– 250 g Spiced Gujarat Dal
– 3 tbsp ghee or coconut oil
– 1 large onion, finely chopped
– 1 garlic clove, crushed
– Salt to tastepreparation
- Roast the dal mixture in 2 tablespoons of ghee over medium heat until the spices are fragrant (approx. 2 minutes).
- Deglaze with 700 ml water and simmer covered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In the meantime, fry the onions and garlic in 1 tablespoon of ghee until golden brown.
- Stir the onion mixture into the finished dal and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Let it steep for another 5 minutes.
- Season with salt.
Serving suggestion: Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice, raita or naan.This makes our products special
